Raising Real Men

Being that I am a girl, raised by a single mom with only a sister, I knew nothing about boys.

And I am blessed to be the mother of two of them.

They are loud.

And rowdy.

And they can't sit still for anything.

And I love it.

But I had no idea this behavior was normal. And I tried to get them to sit still. And listen during school. And not make everything a competition. And well, stop being boys. But they just couldn't. Because they ARE boys.

Raising Real Men, written by Hal and Melanie Young, has assured me that this behavior is quite normal and actually needs to be encouraged. And it has brought me hope that I can raise my boys to be strapping young men who will grow into responsible adults (who will still probably act like boys!)

Issues such as manly virtues, having heroes, courtship, bearing arms, competition are address in Raising Real Men

I cannot stop talking about this book. Seriously. It should be required reading as soon as the doctor says, "It's a BOY!"

Timberdoodle is one of my favorite homeschooling product companies. Their free catalog and homeschool helps have been on my "go-to" list since I found them before we even officially began homeschooling. This year, they started a new blog, Because Mom Said, which features blogger reviews on Timberdoodle products. Check out Timberdoodle on Facebook.

Legal Disclosure:
As a member of Timberdoodle's Blogger Review Team I received a free copy of Raising Real Men in exchange for a frank and unbiased review.
